From Server 2008 R2

Ensure Remote Registry Service is Running on Remote System

Open MMC Window
File -> Add or Remove Snap-ins
Select Computer Management then click "Add"
Another computer -> Enter IP or hostname -> Finish
Services and Applications -> Services
Ensure Remote Registry is enabled

Edit the Remote Registry

Open the local regedit.
File -> Connect Network Registry
Enter the domain hostname of the remote system -> Check Names -> Ok.
Make sure you do not accidentally edit the local Computer registry.
