- Edit the following registry key
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\UsbStor
- Change "Start" to hexadecimal "4".
- The change will happen immediately and the user will not notice anything. If any USB storage devices are already mounted they will stay mounted. If they are unmounted and re-attached the system will not mount the drives.
